 Service and Calibration Engineer

Location: Coventry
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum + bonus

The Service and Calibration Engineer will work as part of a team of engineers and be responsible for calibrating, commissioning, and repairing weighing systems, both on-site and in the Service Centre, using correct test weights.

The Service and Calibration Engineer's Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair services for our customers.
  • Carrying out assessments of equipment to identify any issues that may impact performance.
  • Carrying out calibrations on customer equipment to national standards and completing any necessary adjustments or service work.
  • Completing routine maintenance of weighing instruments to ensure equipment is working optimally.
  • Cleaning down of equipment after calibration service complete.
  • Working with the customer service team to ensure POs are raised before work is completed.
  • Ensuring calibration certificates are sent to customers within 24 hours of work being completed.
  • Ensuring all customer and weighing equipment information is up-to-date in ScaleCal.
  • Ensuring that all documentation is completed accurately and in given timescales.
  • Sending necessary reports to customers.
  • Advising customers on product upgrades, changes, or modifications.
  • Following all Service and Calibration Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Keeping informed and updated on changes to legal metrology legislation and legal requirements.
  • Working out of hours when required.

The Service and Calibration Engineer Requirements: 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Legal Metrology.
  • Excellent knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards, specifically calibration processes and procedures.
  • An HNC or higher in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (preferred but not necessary).
  • Experience working in food hygiene environments.
  • Experience repairing mechanical, electromechanical, and/or electronic equipment.
  • Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting weighing equipment.
  • Experience working with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution-based service process.
  • Competent levels of computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook and the ability to use company software programmes as part of your role.
  • Valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
