Corona virus update - The impact of COVID-19 on recruitment agencies

Well, what a challenging time this is.   I think that the majority of people would agree with me that we have never known anything like this (and I hope that in my lifetime we never experience anything like it again in the future!!)  I would initially like to pass on my thanks to all of the staff at Apex Recruitment for their support, understanding, and efforts over the course of the past few weeks.

As a long-established recruitment agency that has been providing recruitment solutions for over 42 years, we feel as though we are better positioned than others within the recruitment market to ride out this storm.  Over the past decade, we have worked hard to build up a strong financial base and we are confident that we will come out the other side of this and continue with our charge towards our 50 year anniversary, something that would be a truly remarkable feat.

This is a tough time for so many industries and for recruitment agencies this is no different.  We continue to offer support and recruitment solutions to our clients both old and new.  However, at this stage, jobs are few and far between with so many companies either temporarily shutting, working with a skeleton crew or working from home.  Recruitment jobs will also be hard to come by; however, at Apex Recruitment we are fully expecting to need more recruitment consultants once all of this is over and to continue with our plans for growth.

A recruitment consultant recently asked me if there is any sense of optimism to cling on to?  One of the first things that my Chairman ever said to me was that Recruitment Agencies are a good barometer of the economy.  We are one of the first to be impacted when the economy goes into decline however we are also one of the first to benefit when the economy moves back into growth.  Although it may seem a long way off at the moment, things WILL get back to normal at some point in the future and when it does, we can all expect an economic boom.  One thing we don’t know is the timeframe over which this boom happens, but it will come, so, for the time being, we just need to hang in there!!

If I can help you at all or you need advice on how to reduce your costs, furlough your staff or how to survive this period then feel free to contact me at neil@apex-recruitment.co.uk

Stay safe people!!
