The Role
We are seeking a skilled Technical Author – Workshop Information to support the delivery of high-quality Aftersales documentation for a global retailer network. This role is an excellent opportunity for experienced technicians or master technicians to apply their practical knowledge in a technical authorship position, ensuring that complex vehicle systems and repair processes are clearly documented for service teams worldwide.
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining clear, concise, and technically accurate Workshop Information that enables service technicians to carry out maintenance and repairs effectively. Working closely with engineering and aftersales teams, you will ensure that all content is aligned with the latest specifications and released in line with new product and model year timing plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Technical Information – Creation and maintenance of dealer-facing service documentation for new products and model year updates, interpreting engineering data to ensure accuracy and alignment with specifications.
- Vehicle Wiring Systems – Development and maintenance of high-quality wiring diagrams, ensuring accuracy and clarity through defined validation and release processes.
- Service Illustrations – Production and updating of technical illustrations, including extracting data from CAD and adapting graphics to suit dealer requirements.
- Publication of Information – Ensuring content is structured, accurate, and released in line with company standards and quality KPIs.
Key Skills & Experience
- Time-served automotive apprenticeship with strong experience as a technician or master technician.
- Ability to translate hands-on technical knowledge into clear, concise written instructions.
- Strong IT skills with experience managing and retrieving data from digital systems.
- Ideally experienced in producing content for publication, ensuring accuracy and usability.
- Knowledge of automotive engineering processes, aftersales systems, and service documentation practices.
