You will play a key role in driving manufacturing excellence through data-driven insights, structured problem-solving, and collaborative process improvement.

The successful candidate will focus on quality data analysis and engineering support, rather than traditional inspection or quality control tasks. This position offers the chance to work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to enhance build processes and ensure that vehicles meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer – Steering:

  • Analyse production quality issues using methodologies such as 4M, PPS, Fishbone, and 8D to identify root causes and define corrective actions.
  • Coach general assembly (GA) operators to build vehicles to exacting quality standards and support improvements to build processes.
  • Lead and support lean manufacturing activities focused on reducing waste, scrap, and rework.
  • Generate clear, concise reports and visual data summaries using Microsoft Office tools to communicate key quality findings.
  • Work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure swift resolution of quality concerns and implementation of preventive measures.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer – Steering or in a similar quality engineering role in a vehicle assembly environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quality data and perform structured root cause analysis.
  • Hands-on knowledge of vehicle systems (e.g., powertrain, chassis, body, electrical) and technical assembly methods.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma, FMEA (DFMEA, PFMEA), and practical problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to document quality investigations and improvement initiatives clearly and effectively.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Understanding of quality frameworks and compliance standards in automotive manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; experience with CAD tools and other quality management software is beneficial.
  • Solid grasp of process improvement, lean principles, and supplier quality interaction.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial, or Motorsport Engineering – or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma, FMEA, or Practical Problem Solving preferred.
  • Strong grounding in vehicle-based engineering and assembly practices.

This initial 3-month contract is a unique opportunity for a hands-on, delivery-focused Quality Engineer – Steering to apply real-time problem-solving and analytical skills in a dynamic production environment. If you're ready to influence build quality and contribute to high-performance vehicle delivery, this role is for you.
