Overview
We are seeking an experienced MEP Project Engineer to oversee and coordinate key infrastructure and installation projects within a major automotive manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a mechanically and electrically competent project professional with hands-on experience managing complex capital projects from concept through to delivery in a live plant setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage MEP aspects of multiple site-based projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to budget.
- Oversee the strip-out and re-installation of paint shop facilities, including coordination of services, contractors, and safety compliance.
- Support Construction work to enable expansion of facilities such as press shops.
- Project manage a Body-in-White (BIW) installation for a pilot facility, from planning to commissioning.
- Responsibility of mechanical and electrical systems such as HVAC, ducted systems, piped services and electrical LV distribution.
- Act as key point of contact for contractors, internal stakeholders, and external consultants.
- Ensure adherence to CDM regulations, H&S standards, and site protocols.
- Monitor project progress and produce regular reporting and documentation.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven track record delivering MEP packages on major industrial or automotive projects.
- Strong experience with installation and commissioning of commercial/industrial sized plant and equipment within an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Broad technical knowledge across mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Confident managing multiple workstreams and stakeholders on complex, fast-paced projects.
- Familiarity with CDM regulations, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional project delivery team.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within high-volume manufacturing or automotive settings.
- Engineering qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering).
- SMSTS or equivalent site safety accreditation.
