This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lighting Function Owner to join a high-performing team within a world-renowned luxury automotive manufacturer. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of vehicle lighting functions, encompassing hardware, software, and communication interfaces across all elements of the vehicle system.

The ideal Lighting Function Owner will bring extensive knowledge of vehicle systems integration, functional modelling, signal communication, and software/hardware alignment. You will act as a key point of technical leadership for end-to-end lighting function development, ensuring delivery against specification, timing, and quality objectives.


Key Responsibilities of the Lighting Function Owner:

  • Develop and maintain Function Descriptions and Function Requirements Specifications in collaboration with Lead Developers and Component Owners.
  • Create and manage comprehensive Function Delivery Plans, including verification and validation activities.
  • Lead systematic testing of the function across all relevant vehicle elements—control units, software blocks, communication interfaces, and input/output devices.
  • Conduct interface testing prior to full integration and provide technical reporting on outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the EE Infrastructure Architect on signal cascade diagrams, electronics system block diagrams, and boundary diagrams.
  • Support functional mapping to hardware components and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Report issues to relevant stakeholders and contribute to resolution planning.
  • Deliver functional release recommendations backed by evidence of completed testing and requirements fulfilment.
  • Coordinate technical dependencies across multiple engineering domains and cascade improvements to other engineers and function owners.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams including EE/L, EE Infrastructure, and Integration groups.

Skills & Experience Required for the Lighting Function Owner role:

  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, software/hardware integration, and communication networks.
  • Experience with ECU architecture, internal vehicle communications, and function-based system design.
  • Proficient in creating and interpreting functional models, boundary and signal cascade diagrams.
  • Familiarity with verification/validation tools and requirements management systems.
  • Ability to manage technical delivery across cross-functional teams with clear communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Backgrounds in automotive, IT, or defence sectors will be considered.
  • Knowledge of vehicle system ownership and cascading functional changes across teams.
  • German language skills (desirable).

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Associate membership of a relevant professional institution (preferred).
