Overview

This is a hands-on Lead Electrical Assembly Technician role within a manufacturing environment focused on the assembly and testing of electric vehicle (EV) charging systems.

You will take responsibility for assembling and testing EV charging equipment, while coordinating day-to-day build activities and ensuring work is completed to the required quality and technical standards. The role requires strong electrical assembly experience and a solid understanding of electrical principles.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical and electro-mechanical components used in EV charging systems
  • Carry out detailed electrical assembly including:
    • Crimping
    • Mini-Fit and similar electrical connectors
    • Cable and wiring harness assembly
  • Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics accurately
  • Perform electrical and functional testing on assembled units
    • Software-based testing can be trained
  • Use test equipment such as a multimeter to check continuity, resistance, voltage, and functionality
  • Act as the Lead Electrical Assembly Technician within the assembly area, coordinating and delegating tasks as required (no direct line management)
  • Work to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and:
    • Identify opportunities for improvement
    • Amend or help create SOPs where required
  • Support engineering and manufacturing teams with rework, issue resolution, and continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with quality, safety, and environmental standards within a regulated manufacturing environment

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Proven experience in electrical assembly within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals, including Ohm’s Law
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
  • Confident using a multimeter and electrical test equipment
  • Hands-on experience with crimping tools and electrical connectors
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality

Desirable

  • Inspection & Testing qualification
  • Experience assembling or testing EV chargers, power electronics, or similar electrical products
  • Exposure to ISO9001 or other regulated manufacturing environments
