Rate: £29 per hour PAYE / £38.27 per hour Umbrella
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Launch Project Engineer to play a key role in delivering flawless manufacturing launches across premium automotive programmes.
This position will be instrumental in the successful transition of a premium palletised facility from Ryton-on-Dunsmore to Castle Bromwich, ensuring new product programmes are delivered to cost, time, and quality.
The successful candidate will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage programme gateways, and ensure that customers experience the highest levels of quality from the very first build.
Key Responsibilities
As a Launch Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and coordinating cross-functional activities to deliver products into manufacturing.
- Managing programme launch gateways, ensuring timing, cost, and quality targets are met.
- Monitoring and reporting on programme status, risks, and issues using launch management systems.
- Supporting the development and delivery of manufacturing readiness plans.
- Driving problem-solving activities to secure robust launch outcomes (FTT, quality targets, budget adherence).
- Supporting the transition and commissioning of manufacturing facilities, processes, and tooling.
- Influencing and engaging stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and programme teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in product launch and industrialisation within automotive or a related sector.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Confident presenter, able to report clearly and persuasively.
- Proficiency with launch management systems and processes.
- Understanding of process planning and manufacturing environments.
- Excellent IT skills (Excel, PowerPoint as a minimum).
- A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline would be ideal but is not essential.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and structured gateway processes.
- Experience with structured problem-solving tools (8D, DMAIC, PPS, Ishikawa, Six Sigma).
- Previous involvement in facility transitions or new technology introductions.
