ROLE SUMMARY

The Electrical Update Engineer – Flamingo will provide technical leadership in scripting, testing, and delivering vehicle update packs using the Flamingo automated update tool. Acting as the first line of support for all Flamingo-based vehicle update activities, the Electrical Update Engineer – Flamingo will investigate issues, interface with internal engineering teams, and ensure updates are validated, compliant, and delivered effectively. This position requires strong automotive electrical architecture understanding, diagnostic expertise, and experience coding/writing scripts for vehicle systems.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate Flamingo update scripts, bespoke test scripts, and update packs based on project requirements
  • Attend change control meetings to obtain update information and liaise with project teams
  • Validate Flamingo updates on allocated fleet vehicles, checking compatibility and integration dependencies
  • Perform backend analysis of Flamingo results and oversee issue resolution
  • Support compliance with relevant regulations relating to vehicle update baselines
  • Analyse Flamingo traces and diagnose failures relating to ZDC development using UDS error codes
  • Provide Flamingo support to Engineering, Quality, Aftersales, Durability and wider functions
  • Act as the first point of technical support for Flamingo issues and assist with user administration
  • Use diagnostic and systems tools such as CANalyzer/CANoe, multi-network dataloggers and vehicle configuration tools

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • VW Group electrical architecture understanding
  • Experience using Flamingo or similar diagnostic/scripting tools
  • Vehicle flashing and configuration knowledge
  • Systems management understanding of vehicle-specific configurations
  • Proven electrical fault-finding and vehicle diagnostic experience
  • Knowledge of ZDC structure, coding resolution and UNECE 155/156 compliance
  • Experience with diagnostic tools such as ODIS, IDEX, CP-Tool, PIDT and Vector toolsets (advantageous)
  • Engineering qualification to degree level, or equivalent experience
