This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Automotive Lighting Engineer to join an innovative and prestigious automotive manufacturer. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering lighting functions and associated hardware to meet specific programme and performance targets.
As an Automotive Lighting Engineer, you will lead design development, integration, testing, and validation of exterior lighting systems, ensuring compliance with cost, timing, and quality targets. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally and with Tier 1 suppliers to bring cutting-edge lighting technology to life across current and future vehicle programmes.
Key Responsibilities of the Automotive Lighting Engineer:
- Lead the specification, integration, testing, and validation of lighting systems and functions, achieving engineering sign-off in line with project plans.
- Support and drive the design and development of lighting hardware and technology using CATIA V5.
- Deliver projects by managing technical activities, resources, timing plans, and cross-functional coordination.
- Solve complex engineering problems through root cause analysis and data-driven solutions.
- Maintain expert knowledge of lighting regulations and drive innovation through collaboration with Group partners and the application of advanced design principles.
Skills & Experience Required for the Automotive Lighting Engineer role:
- Proven experience delivering automotive exterior lighting solutions within OEM or Tier 1 environments (aviation, defence, or similar sectors considered).
- Proficient in CAD design using CATIA V5 with strong understanding of component packaging, optical design, and plastic moulding.
- Ability to manage project timelines, resource coordination, and engineering release/change control processes.
- Logical thinker with strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Familiar with lighting-related FuSi requirements, vehicle system integration, and electrical architecture.
- German language skills (desirable).
- Willingness to travel worldwide at short notice.
Qualifications:
- Higher Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
