Role Summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Planner to join a UK-based engineering and manufacturing specialist supporting the premium automotive, motorsport and advanced engineering sectors. You will play a key role in ensuring manufacturing operations run efficiently by coordinating production schedules, material availability and site capacity to deliver projects on time.

Role & Responsibilities of a Production Planner

  • Plan and schedule production in line with customer orders, forecasted demand and business priorities.
  • Coordinate material availability with purchasing and suppliers to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Monitor manufacturing capacity and workloads to optimise shop floor efficiency.
  • Manage production orders from release through to completion, tracking progress and resolving delivery risks.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, logistics and quality teams to maintain production schedules.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including on-time delivery, lead times and stock levels.
  • Produce planning updates and provide accurate production information to the wider business.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve planning accuracy, reduce waste and streamline processes.
  • Utilise ERP/MRP systems such as MRPEasy, SAP or Oracle to manage production schedules and materials.

Requirements of the Production Planner

  • Previous experience within a Production Planner or similar manufacturing planning position.
  • Experience planning production within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as MRPEasy, SAP or Oracle.
  • Strong organisational and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage changing production demands.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on operational efficiency.
