Role Summary
As a Manufacturing Engineer NPI, you will support the introduction of new vehicle models from concept and prototype stages through to full production.
Working closely with engineering, operations, design, and wider cross-functional teams, you will help ensure new model introductions are delivered on time and in line with quality, output, safety, and performance targets.
Role & Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer NPI
• Develop vehicle assembly concepts for new model introductions.
• Support the transition from virtual manufacturing to physical validation and delivery.
• Create process sequencing, manufacturing documentation and traceability methods.
• Ensure processes align with current production standards and future manufacturing strategy.
• Develop and support PFMEA activity for new model programmes.
• Drive best practice to improve right-first-time delivery.
• Own, maintain and report hours-per-car data.
• Provide accurate manufacturing engineering data to support efficiency and output targets.
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks with engineering and operations teams.
• Conduct line balancing, time and motion studies across the plant.
• Support facility layout, utilisation and material flow planning.
• Ensure new models align with facility plans and manufacturing vision.
• Support concept reviews, design reviews, engineering release and DFMEA activity.
• Deliver Manufacturing Engineering support across projects from concept to production
Requirements Of The Role
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline
• Manufacturing Engineering experience within automotive, vehicle manufacturing or a similar engineering environment.
• Understanding of complex vehicle systems and assembly processes.
• Knowledge of trim and final assembly processes.
• Experience with end-of-line vehicle processing or finishing would be advantageous.
• Experience specifying or procuring assembly equipment would be beneficial.
• Ability to resolve product-related issues while supporting quality targets.
