We are looking for an enthusiastic, project driven, Supplier Quality Engineer that is always keen for new challenges! They will be working for a growing company, based in Daventry, with a vast and extensive product portfolio. The company is privately owned, manufacturing specialist powertrain components and exhaust systems, taking the product from initial design right through to development and manufacturing. They have even branched into concepts specifically for motorsports. They are forward thinking and always looking for new innovations for the future.

They are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer with the right leadership traits and drive that they have. You will be adept at communication, have a ‘can-do’ attitude and come from an automotive background. You will be reporting to the Engineering Director. A sound knowledge of Microsoft office and familiarity with customer satisfaction processes is needed.

Supplier Quality Engineer role:

  • · Carry out supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP).
  • · Work with Engineering teams to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
  • · Assist in the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks
  • · Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues
  • · Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain and process failures
  • · Provide documentation of inspection results, this refers to supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by regulations, engineering product specifications or Control Plans, PPAP approval or product warrant submission
  • · Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers
  • · Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process, or system
  • · Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements
  • · Manage and coordinate supplier PPM, supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators
  • · Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to clients
  • · Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance team members

The Ideal Supplier Quality Engineer will have:

  • Knowledge of quality and business systems
  • Must have experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge
  • Knowledge of IATF
  • Knowledge of ISO45001/OHSAS18001
  • Understanding of ISO14001
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques
  • Metrology, Inspection Methods and Equipment
  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
