An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Skilled Machinist to join an international engineering brand. This company can be found on and around everything that moves. The purpose of this position is to provide the required skill and experience in CNC grinding and manual grinding including inspection knowledge within manufacturing to achieve sustainable profitable growth and Premier Customer Service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out machining operations to the relevant quality standards and within specified timescales
  • Liaise with the Quality Dept to ensure that quality standards are maintained to support ISO standards
  • Safely operate machines enabling the manufacture of components from production drawings and documentation
  • Interpret engineering drawings, machining processes and quality procedures
  • Willingness to develop their skills in line with business needs within and outside their own discipline
  • Support and participate in Health and Safety activities
  • Develop and implement Lean manufacturing improvements
  • Carry out cross training of manufacturing staff to support flexibility of employees
  • Promote and engage in HPT to drive a culture of empowerment within the business, both in training and team work

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship or NVQ equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in machining
  • Experience of engineering manufacturing principles
  • Experience in setting of CNC grinding machines – Studer Machines is an advantage
  • Ability to read Fanuc programs and alter offsets in line with part requirements
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience of working with inspection equpment such as Digital height gauge, verniers and micrometers
  • Be able to fault find and problem solve
  • Willingness to undertake Lean and HPT training
