We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior CAE Engineer to join our client, who is a manufacturer of breath-taking high-performance road cars.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the definition, development, and validation of Body Structures Analysis with a focus on Composite Structures. The role covers maintaining, analysing, and reporting on components and sub-system models and defining and managing the simulation and data analysis plan across all programs.
Senior CAE Engineer Principal Accountabilities
The engineer will lead the BiW CAE analysis and work with project engineers to assess risk on new projects and develop plans to manage this risk thought virtual and physical test activities.
Supervise external CAE partners to ensure that all CAE analysis conforms to company procedures, industry best practice and global regulations.
Responsible for Body Structures analysis model build and the development of simulation methodology.
Understanding FE model performance, analysis of test data and basic engineering principles, will allow the engineer to develop robust models to assist the design and development activities of the vehicle program.
Determine the most efficient engineering techniques and deliver maximum value to program, through an optimised modelling approach.
Develop relationships with academia, software and hardware suppliers and key consultancies.
Senior CAE Engineer Skills and Experience
Experience of metallic and composite materials
Knowledge of various vehicle systems is essential.
Experience of working with and translating composite process development simulation to product development (CPD-CAE)
Advanced knowledge of Hyperworks, Abaqus and LS-Dyna is required, Optistruct is beneficial
Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive product development or project leadership function
Good knowledge of Composite Structures processes with focus on PrePreg and RTM technologies
Experience in testing measurements and data postprocessing would be beneficial
Good knowledge of validation, verification and testing process
Good knowledge of component development durability and quality principles
Good knowledge of stress analysis of composite, metal and mixed material structures
Experience in CAE simulation of composite structures
Good knowledge of Stress experimental methodology
Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree 2:1 or above
