The successful Lead Engineer will secure a long-term contracting position working with a fantastic team.

The ideal Lead Engineer would be talented, enthusiastic, and professional, resilient, and enthusiastic, an individual able to deliver results under pressure. An effective team player who supports team members. This role will aim to enhance the customer experience through the design, development, measurement, and balance of customer attributes for vehicles

Lead Engineer Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support delivery of all performance requirements as per project plan
  • Support the engineering team to ensure all technical issues are identified and resolved within the timeline
  • Plan and support test and development activities as required or specified in the Design Verification Plan (DVP) in time and to budget
  • Ensure DVP makes use of best practices and maximises use of cost-effective tools and techniques such as CAE
  • Support benchmarking activities where required including, virtual testing, measurement, and visual assessments
  • Working with system and component areas to define targets
  • Work with component engineers and suppliers as required to drive implementation and resolution of all engineering solutions 
  • Deliver technical recommendations and reports
  • Support and maintain the Issues Management System and track these to successful resolution
  • Interface with Core and Special Vehicle Operation Team to share information in both directions
  • Work on tasks to ensure all lessons learnt from the current vehicle are captured and fed back to the Programme team and progressed as necessary


The Ideal Lead Engineer:

  • Previous experience in a similar role in Project Management with track record of delivery
  • Methodical detailed approach to work context
  • Analytical skills to identify how one issue can impact on another and put in place the required interventions through support or from own knowledge base
  • Ability to present complex data & issues to a varied audience
  • Experience of Problem Resolution using structured approaches
  • Ability to manage risks and issues
  • Negotiation and adaptability skills
  • Experience of technical analysis and demonstration of employing best-in-class processes at a management level in engineering technical knowledge and experience of key vehicle systems and whole vehicle engineering
  • Proven ability to interpret and use technical data along with business skills with technical decision-making
  • Microsoft package elements Project, Power Point, and Excel
  • Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering knowledge and cross functional experience
  • Knowledge of Quality Operating Standards in Manufacturing
