A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a leading and innovative automotive and engineering component distributor as a Junior Buyer.  This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a small team of professionals that provide a bespoke service to their clients.

The Junior Buyer role would be offered on a full-time permanent basis and benefits from a salary of up to £30,000 per annum, dependant on experience

As the Junior Buyer you will be effectively managing the supply of materials, parts and products across the client and you will be the key point of contact for customers and suppliers, who may need assistance with orders, requests and queries.


  • Purchasing of products from international suppliers to fulfil orders from the UK, Ireland and further afield.
  • Purchasing of materials and parts for Engineering project requirements.
  • Negotiation with suppliers on pricing/ lead-time and commercial terms, ensuring budget/ margins are met and commercial robustness is achieved.
  • Tracking & reporting on incoming parts relating to customer delivery schedules.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers effectively resolving any challenges/ problems associated with schedule changes.
  • The creation and monitoring of shortage reports across the client
  • Work with suppliers to assure necessary quality and on-time-delivery (OTD).
  • Identifying and implementing supply chain process improvements.
  • Sourcing of potential new suppliers and facilitating formal review to enable verification of robustness and commercial capability.
  • Assisting the warehouse to carry out month/year end activities including audits, system housekeeping and stock take.
  • Sending out and follow up on new Supplier Questionnaires.
  • Answering incoming calls and where necessary transferring to relevant colleagues using the company switchboard/ phone system.
  • Process Customer Credit Card (PDQ) payments.
  • Book and coordinate courier services across the client
  • Assist with sales order processing across the client
  • Support with ISO9001 Internal Audits and Procedures.


  • Must have previous experience working in a Buyer role or similar Purchasing role.
  • Must have good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • An ability to review and understand technical drawings/ Bill of Material (BOM’s).
  • Must be Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have good negotiation skills
  • Have a good Knowledge and terminology of mechanical components
  • Come from an Engineering background so has an engineering understanding or equivalent would be an advantage
