Fabricator/ Sheet Worker
Location: Flecknoe
Hours:  40 hours per week.
Monday-Friday: 7am-4pm

Pay Rate: £30,000-£45,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for a skilled Fabricator to work for a specialist automotive company whose adeptness is in highly prestigious vintage vehicle restorations. They are a family run business who pride themselves on the highest quality products, attention to detail and specialist know-how. Their services range from restoration projects to vintage part supply, classic trim work and rally preparation.

The team is specially selected and nurtured in their use of old-fashioned craft skills for sheet metal work, machining, body work, leather trimming and a range of other internal specialisms. The company is also efficient in various design strategies, including 3D modelling to enable a more bespoke service to their customers requirements.

As a Fabricator you will need to have considerable experience in sheet metal work with a particular focus on vintage car restorations. You will have initiative and be able to work alone as well as part of a small team. The Fabricator must be flexible and possess problem solving skills. You will be reporting directly to the managing director, while working closely with engineers and machinists. An understanding of mechanical issues, ability to design, fabricate and install the components to solve them, is also required.

It is essential that the Fabricator:

  • Can produce double curvature panels using an English wheel.
  • Is capable of gas and TIG welding of steel and aluminium.
  • Has experience working with steel, brass, copper, and aluminium.
  • Can use folders, a guillotine, and rolls.
  • Can braze and silver solder
  • Is proficient in hot/cold riveting
  • Is capable of basic blacksmith work
  • Sound understanding of automotive engineering and mechanical work
  • Can use lathes, milling machines and other manual machines.
