Morning: 6:00am-2:00pm, Friday 6:00am-12:30pm

Evening: 2:00pm-10:00pm, Friday 12:30pm-7:00pm

We are seeking a skilled CNC Setter Operator to join our dynamic team in Sheffield. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating industrial CNC lathe’s, turning and manufacturing precision components from engineering drawings to British Standards, utilising Fanuc controls, ensuring all work is completed in compliance with current Health & Safety regulations. This role is crucial to maintaining our high standards of quality and efficiency in production.

Key Responsibilities of the CNC Setter Operator:

  • Machine Setup and Operation: Accurately utilise Fanuc controls to set and operate CNC lathes and manual machines to produce components according to British standard drawings.
  • Quality Control: Perform precise inspections of produced components using measuring and gauging equipment, promptly addressing any non-conformance issues.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including the use of safety devices and protective workwear, and take proactive steps to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in lean manufacturing initiatives, including setup reduction and preventative maintenance, to enhance production efficiency.
  • Data and Housekeeping: Ensure accurate shop floor data collection and maintain a clean, tidy, and organised workspace in line with 5S practices.

Key Competencies of the CNC Setter Operator:

  • Experience with Fanuc control systems
  • Turning / Lathe experience – CNC and manual machining
  • Quality inspection with handheld measuring equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meet production goals.
  • Physically fit and capable of handling materials in a manufacturing environment.

Job Requirements of CNC Setter Operator:

  • Experience: Time-served or fully apprenticed engineer with a robust background in, setting and operating CNC lathes, and manual machining.
  • Skills: Proficiency in using measuring and gauging equipment, familiarity with MRP systems, and experience with numerical control programming. Must have experience in Fanuc control systems.
  • Attributes: Highly motivated, methodical, and capable of working under pressure to deliver high-quality results. Keen eye for detail, utilising handheld measuring equipment for quality inspections.
