Automotive Workshop Controller / Garage Manager

Location: Witney, Oxfordshire

Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Salary: 45-50K per annum (DOE)


We are looking for a skilled, versatile, and knowledgeable Automotive Workshop Manager/Garage Manager that has a keen interest in classic vehicles and motorsport. Based in Witney, you will be working with bespoke, one-off vehicle builds, with an extensive variety of prestigious brand names and surrounded by vehicles of incredible provenance which are prepared to a concourse standard.

The company is a specialist in classic and vintage car restoration, preparation, and maintenance, with a strong presence in the rally scene. The Automotive Workshop Manager / Garage Manager will be overseeing project vehicles of high-net-worth individuals, who have a passion for the fantastic and rare cars that they own. The company is globally renowned for their unique expertise in the field and deliver the highest quality of service in class.

The desired Automotive Workshop Manager / Garage Manager will need a positive, resourceful outlook, stable leadership skills and a tenacious work ethic.  You will be responsible for project part ordering, building on client and customer relationships, managing project execution and the administration that accompanies this. The Automotive Workshop Manager / Garage Manager will be knowledgeable of bothclassic and vintage cars and understand each stage of a project and how to navigate the technicians to completion.

As an Automotive Workshop Manager / Garage Manager you will be expected to have a high attention to detail and be able to work diligently. You will be required to work both as part of a team, and as an individual, without supervision using your own initiative to overcome complication.

Responsibilities of the Automotive Workshop Manager / Garage Manager

  • Customer liaison
  • Generating customer quotes
  • Managing workshop team
  • Organising works schedules/ Project management
  • Parts ordering
  • Tracking workshop activities to completion
  • Generating customer invoices
  • Reporting directly to Managing director
  • Providing technical guidance to the workshop team
  • Support advertising and marketing strategies


The ideal Automotive Workshop Manager / Garage Manager

  • Previous experience of managing a workshop team
  • Ideally a level 3 qualification within a relevant discipline
  • Enthusiastic, confident, and personable
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and as part of an integrated team
  • Dynamic and flexible
  • Classic vehicle/ Rally knowledge
  • Full UK driving licence
