About the company:

  • Our client is a well-established software company headquartered in the UK with additional offices in the US and Poland. This position will be based from the office in Chelmsford, Essex

What we are looking for:

  • An enthusiastic individual with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management in the software industry, to work with several teams who are responsible for several related products in a relaxed, friendly, and focussed environment.
  • Our teams provide several products and applications used by large clients based in the UK, USA, and Europe. This would give you the opportunity to deal with different customers, with contrasting organisational cultures and problems. These development teams form a larger programme, made up of small, focussed teams, all managing related products for large scale corporate clients.
  • You will be able to show the acumen to drive business critical projects through to a successful conclusion via an iterative delivery process. You will have the ability to work cross-functionally with all members of our Agile based teams that you are responsible for, identifying and mitigating potential risks and blockers whilst communicating through daily stand-ups and using our development and project management tool, Atlassian JIRA, or the client’s management tool as required. You may also be required to monitor budgets and finances and report these to customers and senior management.
  • You will be expected to maintain and build strong stakeholder relationships while preserving the interests of the client.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of managing the business-as-usual software changes for a number of major clients, as well as new projects as required
  • Day to day liaison with clients, regularly travelling to UK based client sites
  • Work closely with our customers ensuring their concerns and priorities are met through determination and maintenance of relevant metrics
  • Provide initial validation of incoming development requests, distinguishing those requiring further information and facilitating this with customers
  • Organise and attend regular project meetings to discuss project progress, risks and issues - both internally and externally
  • Creation and upkeep of project related documentation (such as project plans and reports as appropriate)
  • Effectively manage, develop and communicate with several Agile teams
  • Manage and track developer workloads
  • Plan sprints (unless Kanban), prepare demos and organise and attend team meetings

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to interact with clients in a professional and friendly manner in order to develop and maintain effective long-standing working relationships
  • An excellent understanding, and recent hands-on experience, of project management processes
  • Ability to analyse and improve processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective operational proficiency with the English Language (Level C1 or better of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
  • Confidence to work with your own initiative. Demonstrate positive energy and strong drive to succeed
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in project management within the IT industry
  • Exceptional understanding of critical paths and how to communicate and apply these to business
  • Excellent negotiation skills; applying these to both staff and customers alike
  • Able to work well under pressure, stick to deadlines and meet KPIs
  • Experience working within an Agile based framework
  • Experience of a full SDLC

Desirable:

  • Educated to Degree level
  • A full UK driving license
  • An interest in technology and technical publications/authoring
  • Experience of Atlassian JIRA

  • Experience working within the automotive industry
