Are you an experienced automotive diagnostic technician with strong electrical and electronic vehicle knowledge? We're looking for a skilled Vehicle Diagnostics & Electrical Technician to provide hands-on technical support throughout the vehicle production process.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys fault finding, problem-solving and working across multiple stages of vehicle builds.
About the Role:
You will play a key role in the commissioning, diagnostics, electrical build and repair of vehicles throughout the production process, providing technical support across General Assembly, Trim and End of Line.
Working closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Aftersales, Shakedown and wider Engineering teams, you will diagnose and resolve complex vehicle electrical and electronic faults while supporting the development and improvement of commissioning and repair processes.
This is a hands-on technical position requiring strong automotive electrical knowledge, diagnostic capability and the ability to interpret wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities of the Vehicle Diagnostics & Electrical Technician:
- Take responsibility for vehicle commissioning activities throughout production, including General Assembly, Interior/Trim and End of Line.
- Carry out and oversee commissioning activities to ensure vehicles meet required technical, quality and production standards.
- Identify, diagnose and resolve commissioning issues efficiently to minimise production disruption.
- Carry out advanced diagnostic investigations across vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
- Diagnose faults using specialist diagnostic equipment, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Support the diagnosis, repair and documentation of vehicle issues identified through Aftersales and Shakedown processes.
- Take responsibility for electrical build and repair activities within the production environment.
- Work alongside and provide technical support to electrical technicians carrying out vehicle build and repair operations.
- Maintain accurate commissioning, diagnostic and repair records and documentation.
- Develop, maintain and improve commissioning procedures and technical documentation.
- Ensure electrical repair methods and technical solutions are clearly recorded and documented.
- Identify recurring technical issues and work closely with Engineering and Production teams to implement permanent solutions.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve electrical build, repair, diagnostic and commissioning processes.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within the automotive industry. IMI Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is an advantage
- Strong hands-on knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience working within an automotive vehicle production or manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex vehicle electrical and electronic faults.
- Confident interpreting vehicle wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and technical information.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to resolving technical issues.
- Confident communicating with technicians, engineers, production teams, suppliers and management.

- Day Shift: Monday to Thursday (7.00am – 16.30pm) and Fridays (7.00am – 12.45pm) with the opportunity for overtime·
