Working pattern: 13:00-22:30 Monday – Friday, A Saturday or Sunday working day is required 1 in every 10 weeks.
Role Summary
An excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Team Leader to lead a production area within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. Responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality, and on-time production, you will drive operational performance, continuous improvement, and team engagement while promoting Lean manufacturing principles and developing high-performing teams.
Role & Responsibilities of a Manufacturing Team Leader
- Lead daily production activities, including Team Improvement Boards, line walks, TPM reviews, 5S and safety checks, FIFO compliance, and Day by the Hour monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards through audits, process confirmations, and corrective actions.
- Manage team performance, attendance, wellbeing, discipline, and employee engagement activities.
- Conduct investigations and disciplinary processes in line with company procedures.
- Coordinate onboarding, training, skills matrix management, and development planning for team members.
- Promote Lean manufacturing principles and facilitate continuous improvement activities using structured problem-solving techniques.
- Develop and maintain process controls, standard operating procedures, and safe systems of work.
- Support High Performance Teams and encourage employee empowerment and accountability.
- Collaborate with planning, quality, finance, and operational support teams to achieve production targets.
- Manage labour resources, capacity requirements, and operational escalations to support customer demand.
Requirements of the Manufacturing Team Leader
- NVQ Level 3–5, HND, or equivalent qualification in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Previous leadership experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience using problem-solving tools such as A3 and structured root cause analysis.
- Ability to interpret production metrics and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and team development skills.
- Good organisational and time management abilities.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and quality systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Excel and SAP would be advantageous.
- IOSH certification would be beneficial.
